Linglok My friend (6B Miu Ching Tung)

On 24th May, 2008 I went to the Hong Kong Education Resource Centre at Kowloon Tong with my parents, Miss K.M. Lam and Mr. Patterson to attend the prize giving ceremony of Hong Kong Budding Poets (English) Awards 2007-2008. I was glad because I was awarded the price ‘Poet of school’. My poem was about my lovely friend dog, Linglok. But I was also sad because Linglok had passed away on 13th May.

On noon of 13th May, 2008 I was doing my homework and Linglok lied besides me. After I had finished my homework, I found Linglok left me forever silently. My family was very sad and I cried.

Linglok was born in 1993. She was a Pekingese. She had beautiful golden hair. I liked to brush her hair because it was very softly. Linglok liked eating eggs. When my Mum boiled eggs she wiggled her tail happily.

When I was still a baby, Linglok always crouched under my cradle. When my old grandparents came to visit me she welcomed them and guided them to my cradle just like my angel guard.

When I grown up I often brought Linglok to park and played ball with her. I threw the ball away, she ran after the ball and took it back happily. I won’t forget that she jumped around the grassplot jocundly. Linglok, I miss you.

Friendship

I have a lovely friend for long,

It came from Beijing and called Linglok.

Its hair covered with shiny spot.

It often says ‘woof, woof, woof’ just like talk.

Linglok’s favorite food is eggs,

It eagerly to sit on my legs.

When I play the pop music,

It jumps up happily and shakes.

Linglok gets a shaky tail,

I often comb its golden hair.

It always bite my long skirt belt,

I laugh and cry ‘Help! Help! Help! ’

Every day we go to the park,

I like to hug it and have a chat.

It answers me with ‘hac, hac, hac’,

What is it? Guess!
